Application Timing

No PA School Interview Invitations Yet? What to Check

There is no single date when PA-school interview invitations go out. If you have not heard back, first check that each application is complete and compare your wait with that program’s published schedule. Silence alone does not establish an acceptance, rejection or place in line.

Use the right program and cycle

A university can publish separate interview schedules for its PA, MD and other health-professions programs. Confirm the page belongs to the PA program and names your application cycle or entering class. A search snippet from the medical school’s MD admissions office is not a PA interview timetable.

For example, Northwestern’s PA admissions FAQ anticipates virtual interviews from September through December 2026 for the 2026–27 cycle. It says invitations go to the applicant’s CASPA email address. The interview window does not promise an invitation to every applicant or specify the date of every invitation email.

Check completeness before interpreting the wait

Review CASPA and any separate program portal. Check the status of transcripts, evaluations, required scores, supplemental materials and fees. The CASPA status guide tells applicants to monitor their status and notes that missing items do not generally trigger notifications.

Duke’s PA application instructions provide a useful example: the program reviews applications in receipt order and cannot review a file until everything has arrived. Its processing fee has a separate payment step after verification. Another school may use a different process, so build the checklist from its own instructions.

Record the date the school considered your application complete, when available. “I clicked submit six weeks ago” may not describe how long a complete file has been available for review.

Keep three dates separate

  1. Your completion date: when the required materials were received.
  2. The published interview period: when the school expects to hold interviews.
  3. Any promised notification date: a specific date or period the school gives for contacting applicants.

An interview period is not necessarily an invitation period. An application deadline is neither of those. Our CASPA deadline guide explains another common distinction: submission, completion and verification can represent different requirements.

When a follow-up can help

Follow the school’s contact policy. A concise inquiry is useful when you need to resolve a missing-item discrepancy or a published notification date has passed. If the program specifically asks applicants not to request status updates, respect that instruction.

I applied for [entering class] under CASPA ID [ID]. My records show [specific status or confirmation], but [specific discrepancy]. Could you confirm whether any required item is outstanding? I have checked [portal or instructions]. Thank you for your help.

This example asks an answerable administrative question. Avoid sending repeated messages asking admissions to estimate your chances. Save confirmations and check the email address used in your application, including spam folders and mailbox capacity.

Prepare without treating an invitation as certain

Set aside time to practice explaining your motivation for becoming a PA, your patient-care responsibilities and why each program fits your goals. Review the school’s stated interview format. Check your availability, technology and travel constraints before an invitation arrives.

Continue meaningful work and coursework while waiting. If you have an update, check whether the program accepts it and how it should be submitted. Do not assume additional hours trigger another review automatically.

Do other applicants’ invitations mean you were rejected?

A report that another person received an invitation establishes little about your own status. Their completion date, application circumstances and program may differ, and a forum post may omit those details. Use such reports as context, not a substitute for official communication. You can review potential improvements for a future cycle while keeping unresolved applications marked pending.
